When We Were Wildings

Do you recall the days
when we took
to the fields
and the woods
in the warm
autumn
evenings

Like a pack
of wolves we were
Howling down
the hunter’s moon
running flat out
calling to each other
from deep
in the night

Until late
when we gathered
to build a fire
Wilding wasn’t
a bad word
back then;
we weren’t
vandals
just loners
who found each
other and recognized
our wild souls
in the dark
in the wild

  1. Thanks all for coming here and for commenting; I love that people related to wilding the same way I did for this (the word got a bad rep for a few years; I prefer its old meaning …)I appreciate all the kind words.

If you're so inclined, I'd love to hear from you ...
